Jordan Spieth

FanDuel has struck a deal with PGA great Jordan Spieth, and now golf bettors can get a big odds boost for this week’s Northern Trust tournament.

Officials announced the deal on Wednesday.

Over the past few years, US sportsbooks have signed partnerships with a host of professional sports teams and leagues. This one, though, is a partnership with an individual athlete who’s also a three-time major champion.

Jordan Spieth odds boost for Northern Trust

As part of his FanDuel Group exclusive partnership, Jordan Spieth will make the leading US sportsbook:

  • His exclusive sports betting partner
  • His exclusive daily fantasy provider

Spieth will be the face of FanDuel’s PGA Tour and other golf offerings, and he’s also star in national TV commercials. The 28-year-old Texan will also work with FanDuel on initiatives for social media and responsible gaming, as well as the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation.

Of course, there will also be some sports betting tie-ins. Take, for example, the Northern Trust. The four-day tournament kicks off Thursday at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, NJ.

Other than Jon Rahm (+900), Spieth has the shortest odds to win the tournament. They were +1800 at FanDuel as of Wednesday.

However, there’s another way to bet on Jordan Spieth with some really advantageous odds. Here’s the bet:

Jordan Spieth to Shoot Par or Better (71 or Better) in Round 1 of Northern Trust (8/19)

The odds were originally -200, but FanDuel is now offering them at even-money +100 odds (max bet $50).

You can also bet on Spieth (or other golfers) in a variety of other ways. They include (with the corresponding odds):

  • First-round leader: +2900
  • Top 5 (+360), Top 10 (+175), Top 20 (-135), Top 30 (-210), or Top 40 (-310)
  • Head-to-head: Spieth (+128) vs. Rahm (-164)
  • Group betting: Spieth (+260), Rahm (+165), Dustin Johnson (+310), or Xander Schauffele (+340)
  • Top US finisher: +1000
  • Make cut: -650
  • Miss cut: +350

Spieth on sports betting

Sports betting has gone from a taboo topic to an everyday reality with the proliferation of legal US sports betting.

Jordan Spieth understands the appeal. He stated:

“As the world of legal sports betting grows rapidly in the US, I’m incredibly excited about what’s happening in the space and the potential it has to bring new fans to the sport of golf. As the PGA Tour and others in the golf world have strongly embraced legalized sports gaming, I look forward to working with FanDuel to find unique ways to engage the fast-growing fanbase.”

With his sterling off-the-course reputation, Spieth will be a great ambassador FanDuel. In fact, FanDuel Group Chief Marketing Officer Mike Raffensperger called him “one of the most universally admired golfers” and “a perfect fit for our first official golf partner and the face of golf at FanDuel.”

Of course, Spieth’s on-the-links successes are also plentiful – and should give you plenty of reasons to consider that Northern Trust Round 1 odds boost:

  • 12 PGA Tour wins
  • 64 PGA Tour top 10s
  • $41.2 million lifetime winnings
  • FedEx Cup Champion: 2015
  • PGA and PGA Tour Player of the Year: 2015
  • US Open winner: 2015
  • The Open Championship winner: 2017
  • Masters Tournament champion: 2015
  • PGA Tour Rookie of the Year: 2013
  • Vardon Trophy: 2015, 2017
  • Byron Nelson Award: 2015, 2017

Currently, Spieth is ranked No. 2 in the 2021 FedExCup standings, and he’s 12th on the PGA Tour in scoring average (69.832).
