Other promotions
Global Poker doesn’t offer standard promotions such as reload or rake-back bonuses that appear on other online poker sites, but more often than not you’ll find a promotional tournament ongoing for four to six weeks.
The site’s promo tournaments typically involve a range of qualifying events and challenges for both virtual currencies, all leading up to a final multi-table tournament with a big, guaranteed (GTD) pot of Sweeps Coins.
One such tournament, 2020’s 25 Days of Christmas, involved a number of qualifiers, Sweeps Coin freerolls, Gold Coin and Sweeps Coin challenge events, and more, leading up to a final MTT featuring a guaranteed pot of 100,000 Sweeps Coins.
You can earn entry into one challenge event during the promotion — the GTD SC 20,000 Ringle Bells ring game challenge — by playing 5,000 Sweeps Coin hands in Global Poker’s ring games during the month.
In addition to extended promo events, Global Poker offers regular daily and weekly tournaments around the clock that feature substantial guaranteed pots. The winner of one weekly SC 55,000 GTD Sunday Scrimmage tournament took home over 12,000 Sweeps Coins in prizes.
Entry into Global Poker’s daily challenge tournaments might require you to see 50 flops during the day leading up to an event. Seeing 500 flops in Gold Coin and Sweeps Coin ring games will earn you entry into the weekly SC 500,000 GTD Bonanza MTT.
If you like to plan ahead, Global Poker provides a downloadable tournament schedule that is updated weekly. Unfortunately, Global Poker has no loyalty program in place to reward frequent buyers.

How do I play poker for cash prizes on Global Poker?
Global Poker is able to legally offer redeemable cash prizes to the winners of online poker games in US states without legal markets because it follows promotional sweepstakes laws in individual states. Washington’s laws prohibit for-profit sweepstakes enterprises.
These laws require companies to give sweepstakes entries away for free. While the sweepstakes entry isn’t worth anything on its own, when you enter it into a sweepstakes drawing or use it to play a game of chance, you can claim cash prizes.
Sweeps Coins are Global Poker’s sweepstakes entry, and poker is the game of chance. You can receive free Sweeps Coins via a number of avenues, including with purchased packages of Gold Coins. Other than these details, Global Poker isn’t any different from traditional online poker rooms in legal markets.
Sweeps Coins have no monetary value; they are just virtual tokens. However, when you gather enough, you can exchange them for cash prizes and gift cards.
How to buy gold coins
Click the store or “get coins” button in the top right corner of the page to get started. Gold Coins and free Sweeps Coins come in the following packages:

$5 | 4 | 25K |
$10 | 9 | 50K |

While PayPal and Facebook payment services no longer work, Global Poker has an agreement with WorldPay that provides a variety of payment methods, including the following:
- Credit cards (Mastercard, Visa, American Express)
- ACH e-check (online banking)
- Prepaid cards (Walmart MoneyCard Mastercard, PaySafeCard)
- PaySafeCash (like PayNearMe in NJ)
To use Skrill, you’ll have to create an account and go through a verification process. Once that’s complete, you can add funds to your Skrill wallet using a variety of banking options. Skrill gives you the option to set an automatic top up if you fall below a set number of virtual chips.
There is an important caveat to using Skrill. When you add money to your wallet, you will need to answer “No” when asked, “Will you use the money for fantasy sports, online poker, etc.?”
Since Global Poker is a sweepstakes-based site, if you answer “Yes,” you will not be able to use the funds to purchase Gold Coins on Global Poker.
How to get free Sweeps Coins
You can get free Sweeps Coins in the following ways:
- Global Poker social media giveaways
- With Gold Coin package purchases
- Daily bonuses
- USPS mail
Opportunities to win five to 350 Sweeps Coins, or more, appear regularly on Global Poker’s Facebook page. You might find discounts on Gold Coin purchases, as well.
Open the store and click the daily bonus box at the bottom of the window to manually collect a small amount of free Sweeps Coins and Gold Coins every 24 hours.
You can also receive five Sweeps Coins if you send a letter to Global Poker asking for them. Look over the requirements in the site’s sweepstakes rules for full details.
How to request redemption of cash prizes
You can redeem winnings of at least 50 Sweeps Coins in the store under the redeem tab, or via Skrill, bank transfer or Prizeout gift card. There is no set maximum redemption amount. You’ll need to go through a detailed account verification process before you’ll be able to request a redemption.
The verification process will usually take about five days. Once that’s complete, it can take up to five more days to receive your cash prize redemption, depending on your financial institution.
Global Poker app
Global Poker’s proprietary platform is simple and functional. VGW acquired the rights to Cubeia Sweden’s poker client in 2016 and debuted the same year, so there’s been plenty of time to iron out the major kinks.
There’s no dedicated app, but Apple and Android users will find that the site has been optimized for mobile browsers. Most features available on the full-sized, desktop version of the site are also accessible from small-screen devices, although not all of them.
Until recently, smartphone users couldn’t access the player-dealer chat feature. Global Poker’s developers are set to roll out a number of upgrades in the near future, and you can try them out right now if you add yourself to the beta test group. To activate, click the beta test link under your account menu and toggle the switch into the “on” position. You can opt out at any time just by toggling the switch off.
Other improvements include the option to disable player chat while keeping dealer chat live, an option to input custom bets via your keyboard, and the ability to access all table settings from within the game.
Global Poker navigation
The best way to learn how the site works is to log in and start poking around. That said, the No. 1 rule on Global Poker is to be mindful of what virtual currency the site is using.
By default, you’ll see Gold Coin ring games when you log in to the poker client. Click the “switch to SC” link along the top of the page to see what’s really happening. About 90% of Global Poker’s users will typically be found playing for Sweeps Coin stakes.
The site always separates games using the two currencies, so make sure the hand history you’re looking at is the one you really want to see.
Note that mobile users won’t be able to see their hand history. Desktop users can click the in-game options icon to see theirs, as well as change table settings. If you haven’t opted in to the beta site yet, some table options appear under “settings” in the account menu.
The account menu will open in a new window when you click the hamburger icon in the upper left corner of the page. To the right of the hamburger icon is the home button, which will return you to the poker lobby.
In the top right corner of the lobby is the “buy coins” button, or “store.” This is where you can buy Gold Coins, redeem Sweeps Coin winnings, see your transaction history and contact customer support.
You can filter games by ring games, sit and go’s (SNGs), MTTs and jackpot SNGs. You can filter all games by stakes (micro, low, medium and high), available seats and other features. Additional filters are available for MTTs.
Finally, Global Poker has amassed a collection of educational tools available for free on the homepage before you log in to the poker client. Poker School articles are extensive and range from beginner to expert, Texas Hold’em to Omaha to Crazy Pineapple, ring games to tournaments, and more.
Author and former PokerStars manager Lee Jones frequently publishes Global Poker exclusives, such as the secrets to beating split-pot games and how to handle splash pots.
Can I use a HUD on Global Poker?
No. Heads-up display (HUD) software, and all other third-party tools and services, are not allowed on Global Poker. There’s a special support ticket just to report suspected use of prohibited software, as well as possible player collusion.
Global Poker multi-tabling
You can play in as many ring games as you like, at least until your computer crashes or your Wi-Fi signal jams.
Click the four-square icon in the top left corner of the poker client to toggle between tab and page views for multiple tables. In tab view, each table will have a tab at the top of the client so you can view your games one at a time. Page view will show all of your tables on one screen.
Opt in to the beta test program to benefit from multi-table page view enhancements such as brighter table themes, and larger and clearer text, numbers and cards on non-mobile browsers.
There is also a third option for multi-table play: pro mode. Toggle pro mode on and off under the settings link to open each game in a new, resizable window.
Advantages to using pro mode include the ability to keep an eye on the poker lobby and add new games without having to click the home button and exit your games first. You can exit pro mode games by simply closing the window.
Global Poker games
Plenty of Gold Coin action is available for players who want to practice or just play for fun, but the following applies to Sweeps Coin games only. See “Gold Coin poker games” below for more information on those games.
The majority of Global Poker games are No Limit Texas Hold’em (NLH) multi-table tournaments, sit and go’s, jackpot SNGs and ring games. You’ll find a limited number of the same types of games featuring Pot Limit Omaha (PLO), with the exception of jackpot SNGs, which are only available for NLH.
Global Poker runs Crazy Pineapple MTTs every now and then. Check the schedule for dates and times.
Ring games, SNGs and MTTs run 24/7. Site traffic ranges anywhere from about 5,000 players on a Wednesday evening to over 10,000 players on a weekend afternoon.
Global Poker draws a lot of traffic from its social media accounts, so games tend to be on the soft side. Even so, there’s enough action for experienced players to grind out a decent profit.
Global Poker takes a 5% rake on all blinds, with caps up to four Sweeps Coins depending on the number of players at your table. The only exception is jackpot SNGs, in which your buy-in contributes a built-in 6% rake. Gold Coins may have no value, but the same rake percentages hold true for Gold Coin games, too.
No limit texas hold’em
NLH multi-table tournaments are where most players are seated around the clock. Tournaments start every quarter of an hour at most times of the day, and ramp down to every hour and a half in the early hours of the morning. Jackpot SNGs are infrequently scheduled for NLH only.
More than 72% of about 10,000 Global Poker players were seated in 20 MTTs on one weekend afternoon in December 2020. About 200 MTTs were on the schedule for later in the day.
About 75% of those tournaments had micro or low buy-ins starting at 0.11 Sweeps Coin. About 14% were playing for medium buy-ins of about 55 Sweeps Coins, while about 10%, or 700 players, were seated in two high stakes MTTs with buy-ins up to 218 Sweeps Coins. On the schedule for later that day were 15 additional high stakes MTTs.
You can play only one tournament at a time. The break schedule will be posted in the poker lobby. You’ll get a time bank that will give you a set amount of extra time to make decisions. You can rebuy as long as you have funds in your balance.
Later that month, on a Wednesday evening, over 5,500 players were actively participating in Global Poker games, with about 60%, or 3,250 players, playing in NLH MTTs. Despite the lower turnout, there were about 200 upcoming NLH MTTs on the schedule.
Over 1,200 players were involved in MTTs with medium to high buy-ins, ranging from 22 to 110 Sweeps Coins. One high stakes tournament, the SC 12,500 GTD Wednesday Wipeout progressive bounty MTT had a buy-in of 110 Sweeps Coins, 140 players and a prize pool of 14,000 Sweeps Coins with the top 27 players taking a share of the pot.
Another Wednesday tournament, the SC 6,000 GTD Night Predator started at 8:30 p.m. About two hours later, 60 players were left in the progressive bounty MTT, with the top 12 players set to share the pot. It’s worth noting that in Global Poker’s progressive bounty tournaments, some players end up with bounties that are larger than the pot.
NLH ring games and SNG traffic
NLH SNGs and ring games are available around the clock. On a December weekend afternoon, about 600 players were seated at 75% of 100 NLH SNG tables, with most playing for low stakes, ranging from a 0.25 Sweeps Coin up.
Approximately 500 players, or 5% of all site traffic, were playing NLH ring games, with most playing for low stakes.
On one midweek evening, about 600 players, or 11% of all site traffic, were seated in NLH ring games. Fifty players were playing for medium stakes with average pots up to 65 Sweeps Coins, while 10 players were involved in high stakes games with average pots up to 290 Sweeps Coins.
About 10% of all site traffic, over 500 players, were seated at 75 SNGs, with about 60 on the schedule for later that day.
Pot Limit Omaha
One Pot Limit Omaha MTT was live on Sunday afternoon. The SC 2,000 GTD Sunday PLO tournament had a buy-in of 55 Sweeps Coins. Eight more PLO MTTs were scheduled for later.
Ten players were seated at three low-stakes PLO SNGs, and about 200 were playing at about 30 ring game tables, with about 15% playing for medium to high stakes.
On a midweek evening, about 8% of total site traffic, or 270 players, were seated at PLO ring game tables, with about 30 playing for high stakes. A limited number of PLO SNG tables were active.
Crazy Pineapple
Generally you can find at least one Crazy Pineapple on the MTT schedule, but whether any players will register for the tournament is up in the air.
On a midweek evening, 52 players were participating in the SC 500 GTD No Limit Crazy Pineapple six-max progressive bounty MTT, with the top eight players taking home a share of the pot.
Gold Coin poker games
Playing Global Poker games using Gold Coins is a good way to practice your skills, learn a different game and play just for fun, even though your winnings will have no cash prize value.
Over 10% of the total site traffic on one weekend afternoon in late 2020 was seated at Gold Coin MTTs, ring games and SNG tournaments just for fun, for a total of about 1,000 players.
As you might expect, 85% of Gold Coin players were seated in five NLH MTTs, with over 30 on the schedule for later in the day.
Approximately 150 players were participating in NLH ring games, while about 15 players were practicing their skills in NLH SNGs. You’ll also find some PLO action, with three active ring games running on that day.
On a midweek evening in the same month, about 11% of total site traffic was mostly seated in five NLH MTTs, along with some NLH and PLO ring games, for a total of about 600 players.
Casino games
Global Poker began offering a few proprietary casino slots and table games in 2020. After adding a number of new titles since then, five-plus games are currently available, including slots, a couple of versions of blackjack and one poker game.
To play, click the promotional banner in the top right of the poker lobby.
Global Poker customer support
Global Poker doesn’t offer live chat, but ZenDesk’s FAQ section and support ticket system are the next best thing.
Player support responded to several general site questions via email within an hour. Staff members were courteous and knowledgeable, and answers were thorough and complete. If you do need to follow up for some reason, you can just hit reply.
Open the store and select the “support” tab to visit customer service.
