The holidays are officially here.
The Virginia Lottery released a new series of instant-win scratchers with prizes of up to $100,000. The scratchers add to the lottery’s collection of more than 30 scratch-off games available at the Virginia Lottery’s network of more than 5,000 retailers.
The lottery launched a pair of holiday online games, too: Holiday Towers and Holiday Gold.
The Holiday Trio: Luck, Gold, and Cash
The lottery’s new scratchers are Holiday Luck, Holiday Gold, and Holiday Cash.
Holiday Luck
This $5 scratch-off is part of the lottery’s Lucky X15 series, which affords players up to 15 chances to win. The game has a row of “Holiday Numbers” across the top. Match any numbers from the three rows of five numbers below the Holiday Numbers and players get the prize corresponding to the number. The maximum prize for the ticket is $100,000.
There are four ways to earn either an instant win or multiplied prizes:
- Candy Cane: Instantly win the prize shown
- 5X: Multiply the prize shown by five
- 10X: Multiply the prize shown by 10
- 15X: Multiply the prize shown by 15
The odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.83. The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 1.53 million. At the time of publishing, three $100,000 tickets remained in circulation.
Holiday Gold
Holiday Gold is a $2 game with a top prize of $20,000. Each ticket provides 10 opportunities to match the player’s numbers to three winning numbers.
The scratcher has two variations: a Christmas tree is an instant win for the corresponding prize, and a candy cane multiplies the number shown by five.
The chances of winning any prize are 1 in 4.32, and the chances of winning the game’s top prize of $20,000 are 1 in 979,200. At the time of publishing, one $20,000 prize remained.
Holiday Cash
Rounding out the new collection of holiday scratchers is Holiday Cash, a $1 game with a top prize of $1,000. The game has four color schemes: silver, gold, green, and red.
Each scratcher provides six chances to win and, like other holiday and non-holiday games, offers prize multipliers and bonuses. A holiday present is an instant win for the prize shown. If a double dollar sign appears, the prize shown is doubled.
The chances of getting a winning ticket are 1 in 4.41, and the chances of winning $1,000 are 1 in 1.02 million. At the time of publishing, three $1,000 prizes remained.
Losing tickets eligible for eXTRA Chances promotion
All three of the Virginia Lottery’s new holiday scratchers are eligible for the lottery’s eXTRA Chances promotion. The promotion is a second-chance contest, in which players can enter the non-winning ticket’s number on the lottery’s website, scan it into the lottery’s app, or mail it to the Virginia Lottery.
Second chance prizes include concert tickets, a tropical vacation, and home-improvement gift cards.
