  • Sunday, 8:15 p.m. (NBC): No. 7 Steelers (+500) @ No. 2 Chiefs (-700)
  • Monday, 8:15 p.m. (ESPN/ABC): No. 5 Cardinals (+166) @ No. 4 Rams (-198)

(The NFC’s Green Bay Packers and AFC’s Tennessee Titans are No. 1 seeds and have byes this weekend.)

If you already have some rooting interest in one of those teams, we can understand your desire to bet on that one.

But before you bet with your heart, let’s consider wagering with our heads instead. After all, you can greatly improve your chances of winning this bet for the FanDuel VA promo.

Optimal betting for NFL Wild Card Weekend promo

So, with six games and 12 teams, which one should you bet on? How do you bet if you want the absolute best chance of winning the $150?

Let’s look at the odds for the Las Vegas Raiders vs. the Cincinnati Bengals matchups. The Raiders odds have a positive number (+188). That means if you bet $100 on the Raiders and they win, you’d get your $100 back plus another +188.

And because the Bengals have odds with a negative number (-225), that means they’re the favorite. It also means you’d have to bet $225 to net $100 in profit if they win.

In this case, those odds suggest the Bengals have a 69.2% chance of winning. The Raiders have a 34.7% chance. (Those numbers don’t add up to 100 because the house edge of about 4-5% is baked into the numbers.)

The oddsmakers aren’t perfect, of course. (If they were, we wouldn’t have some bettors who are able to beat them.) But there’s a lot of logic that goes into the odds they make, so they’ll give you a good rough estimate of who should win and who should lose.

And based on those above odds, this is the implied win probability for each team. The higher the number, the more likely that team is to win (though anything can happen in a one-game sample size):

  • Chiefs: 87.5%
  • Buccaneers: 79.0%
  • Bengals: 69.2%
  • Rams: 66.4%
  • Patriots: 63.2%
  • Cowboys: 61.8%
  • 49ers: 42.3%
  • Cardinals: 37.6%
  • Raiders: 34.7%
  • Bills: 32.8%
  • Eagles: 25.0%
  • Steelers: 16.7%

The Bengals are still attractive options. However, as you can see based on the odds, the Chiefs or Buccaneers are your best bets for this FanDuel Virginia promo on the NFL’s Wild Card Weekend.
