The Virginia Lottery continues to spread the holiday cheer with its 2021 holiday scratchers and a second chance opportunity to win some cash.
Earlier this month, the VA Lottery rolled out its annual holiday scratch-off tickets. The lineup of scratchers has winnings of up to $500,000.
But if you weren’t one of those lucky winners, no worries.
The VA Lottery is giving you a second chance to win some holiday cash with your tickets.
Second chance with 2021 holiday scratchers
From Nov. 2, 2021, to Jan. 23, 2022, the VA Lottery is giving the non-winning ticketholders of the following holiday scratchers a second chance to win some holiday cash:
- Winter Winnings
- Holiday Cheer
- Holly Dough!
You have to have a non-winning ticket for one of those three games to be eligible for the second chance promotion.
How to submit an entry
You can submit an entry for the second chance promo via the VA Lottery app or the VA Lottery website.
When submitting an entry online, make sure that you correctly enter the Second Chance Web Code and the Promotion Entry Number. These numbers can be found on the top right corner of the front and back of the scratcher.
You can submit up to 25 entries per promotion.
When second chance drawings take place
The first drawing for this promotion took place on Nov. 9. But if you’re a little late to this second chance party, there are still eight more drawings left to go.
In each drawing, 157 winners are selected and win $100 each.
The entry deadline for the next drawing is Nov. 28. That drawing will take place on Nov. 30.

Holiday prizes and odds of winning
Each holiday scratcher has its own promotion.
Winter Winnings is a $5 holiday scratcher, so that’ll give you five entries into the second chance promotion. Holiday Cheer, a $2 game, gets you two entries into the promo. And the $1 scratcher Holly Dough gets you one entry.
Below you’ll find the odds of winning the $100 prize:
- The odds of winning the second chance prize for the Winter Winnings scratcher is 1 in 4,896.
- The probability of winning for the Holiday Cheer scratcher is 1 in 1,305,600.
- The odds of winning for the Holly Dough scratcher is 1 in 2,040,000.
The winners of the drawings will be notified via phone, email or by mail.
